about the module
The subject emphasises visualisation and spatial expression through drawings, teaching essential skills for effectively communicating architectural design. It uses a combination of studio and outdoor freehand and built drawing activities. The teaching strategy offers a blended learning environment by combining lectures and tutorials. Through MyTIMES, the delivery method blends in-person interactions with virtual learning. Summative tests and individual assignments are part of the assessment process.

project 1
STARCHITECT
Choose the "starchitect" that you most like from the selection. To learn more about the architect's style, demeanour, etc., do some background research about them. Sketch the final poster on an A3-sized piece of paper.
SELECTED ARCHITECT: LE CORBUSIER
REFLECTION
This project delves into famous architects' lives and works, broadening my architectural knowledge and inspiring my creativity. Researching reveals the stories behind iconic designs, while refining my drawing skills through sketches and color enhances visual impact and aids in selecting appropriate palettes for architectural styles.
project 2
FARNSWORTH HOUSE
Using orthographic projections, axonometry, and perspectives, create 2- and 3-dimensional drawings manually and continuously in three stages. The goal is to investigate manual projection techniques for architectural drawings with a focus on line quality, symbols, and conventions. You're going to produce:
- Plan Drawing
- Elevation (s)
- Section
- Axonometric
- Perspectives Drawing
REFLECTION
Creating the orthographic drawing of the Farnsworth House was a challenging yet rewarding experience. Attention to detail was crucial in capturing the architectural elements accurately. Experimenting with one-point and two-point perspectives offered insights into how perspective influences the portrayal of space and form. This exercise highlighted the significance of precision in architectural drawing and expanded my understanding of various techniques' impact on visual appeal. I'm eager to apply these insights to enhance my skills in future projects.
project 3
INTEGRATION WITH ARCHITECTURE DESIGN STUDIO I
I used an A1 presentation board to present my architecture concept for Project 3. The board includes a printed reproduction of my sketch and prior model, an abstract drawing, an orthographic view, an exploded axonometric, and a tattoo stamp. This compilation presents a multi-faceted depiction of my design, utilising a variety of components to communicate the intricate details and imaginative parts of the building project.
REFLECTION
Creating the model and presentation board for my final project taught me perseverance and problem-solving. The model required constant adjustments to turn ideas into reality, while the presentation board needed rearranging to tell a cohesive design narrative visually.
